Can we all just get along?! If we all would resolve to encourage and uplift one another, through our thoughts and deeds, collectively we create our reality –A reality where positive and progressive change is evident. Many of us talk up a good game; in fact some are very creative with their convictions. However, action speaks louder then words. No matter how much some things do in fact change, or how much we talk about the possibility of embracing change within the black community, the more things remain the same.
Why is it such an ordeal for the black community to come together in unity? Why do we look down on each other? Why do we tear each other to shreds, diminishing the spirit and dreams of one another? Is it out of fear that fuels us? Fear that one may progress a little more expeditiously then the other? Have we not yet learned that as we mission together WE progress together? Now don’t get me wrong, there are some of us who actually are there for each other. We will encourage one another to always do our best…Sharing resources, emotional, moral and perhaps even financial support. But it is obvious for the most part, we are segregated within our own communities –A Segregation, if I may add, that of which we ourselves have created… cliquish if you will. It’s not enough that we have been oppressed for 400 years by those who have detested our very presence here on earth that we have to inflict oppression upon one another. Why is that??
Is it actually possible that many of our people have been instilled with that much hate; brainwashed into thinking and believing that we are not worthy people…Incapable of embracing healthy relationships? That perhaps we are insignificant and do not deserve to be loved, therefore unable to love? Not even our own?? Or maybe we have allowed our emotions to consume us so that we have forgotten how to love…Unconditionally?
Although we should never forget the past and what our ancestors had to endure during that most oppressive time, we should resolve to make them proud by living in the present…Growing in the strength of oneness; so that all of their pain, suffering and anguish as they fought for the rights for respect and equality were not in vain. We do this by being there for one another. By using our voices and giving of our time to replenish the spirits and the dreams of our people. We have to again strengthen our hope for positive change, just as our ancestors did. We are a beautiful people with many God given gifts and talent; more so then any other culture on the face of the earth. That alone should stir you to movement towards unity! The Creator truly intended for us to be Mighty Kings and Queens, epitomizing love, peace and harmony.
I suppose that based on the portrayal of the black community it could be conceivable that there are so many of us who would rather embrace what is familiar –negativity brought on by self-hate. For this is where we feel most comfortable. Do we remain stagnant while blaming those who have oppressed us for our current ignorance or do we embrace one another and mission forward?
We need to walk in the light, receiving each other in oneness. Let us visualize with our third eye and behold the beauty of anew and the hope of unity within the black community; waiting to be embraced. If we do not get it right and soon, we are subjected to repeat history with catastrophic affects!
One!
