Sometimes, our minds get cluttered with things. Things like bad memories, images, thoughts, and the rough edges of living. Why did I write this poem? Well, actually, it was written to me, through me. It made me feel so nice that I decided to share it with my friends tonight. I hope there's something here that you can find as your own gain. For all of the Miles Davis fans out there, the song playing in the background is "It Never Entered My Mind."
Easy Nights Into All My Mornings
I like it… easy Easy like Lionel sang about it on Sunday morning You know… it doesn’t have to be so difficult Some of the most eventful Memorable moments in my life have been the easiest I don’t mean effortless… but simply …Easy Easy like a joy-ride with no particular destination Easy like coming home after working all night And putting on some jazz like “It Never Entered My Mind” And you leave everything else behind As you unwind, sip on a glass of your favorite wine Think about the days when your favorite poems were birthed And nothing anyone can say or do has the power to discourage Your free-formed, relaxed state of thoughts That flow like a gentle massage With a gentle voice of song and message Inside Your mind Right there at the junction where mind and spirit meet There is the place where they greet Each other with a smile And they embrace each other and dance for a while Conscious of each other’s presence Blessing you with presents Of pleasant Growth in being greater than physical capacity
Let silence have a moment to speak… and close your eyes Free the pollution from your mind and rise Into an abundance of peace that covers your soul If it feels so good that for no reason the tears roll Let them be led away to a trail that evaporates Back into the air where they belong. You’ve escaped To that secret place that only you can call your own A place where your soul, mind and body feel at home It feels like… some strange kind of unwritten poetry Speaking from a place within you so deep That you can’t help but settle into a sacred lullaby You can feel a warmth radiating from the outside Permeating and reaching inside A warmth you can only describe And explain as how good it feels to be alive The fire inside you is kindled with a gentle might So easy as your head rests on thoughts of easiness tonight Rest and replenish. Good night
