So What's The Plan? (1199 hits)

I have read about several different issues that we face as a whole. What I would like to know from each individual is what their major concern or issue is and what if any plans each person has for correcting/eliminating them. I am hoping to leave this post open so that there can be a colloboration of ideas and in the hope that each person can get advice pertaining to their endeavors and so that all plans can become workable solutions. Please take the time to share your ideas and help your brother or sister develope theirs by at least looking at what they have to say.

One problem that I see is that people sometimes believe that their thoughts and ideas are more important than the next person's. My solution was to create a meeting place to discuss these matters in ways that can be productive for everyone.

My issue is the lack of unity among most African Americans, on and offline. Although every culture could use some encouragement in embracing their own, African Americans are the only ones who not only will not embrace each other; they will behave like those crabs in a barrel when they see you climbing to the top for air and expansion. We will mission to out do the other as in a competition. Before we demand unity and equal opportunities from other cultures we must first learn to embrace and support each other. Much respect is to be gained from that.

My plan is to lead by example and continue to inspire, love and bless up my people regardless if the love is not supported. This is a great meeting place to express and support my mission. I am hoping that we will all one day come together as one and wear our crowns like the mighty Kings and Queens we were born to be.

This is a wonderful and profound forum, SG

My major issue that I would like to see workable solutions and evidence is the state of mental healthcare in the African-American community.

I am thoroughly frustrated that black people take their mental health for granted and also do nothing about it when it is obvious a mental illness exist.

I am saddened by the fact that college-age students fail to recognize mental healthcare important. Most cases of Bipolar will occur in the 20's age range. I was 29 when I was diagnosed with Bipolar. In hindsight, I could trace depression back to when I was a pregnant teenager, especially post partum blues.

I woud like to live to see the day that mental illness is no longer an opportunity to laugh at family and friends at social gatherings or talk about their behaviors behind their backs, but individuals taking a proactive interest in stopping the spread of mental illness and the stigamas associated with it that stifle the progress of mental wellness.

Mental illnesses are not curable, but they are treatable. Untreated mental illness rip famiies apart, cost 100 billion dollars a year, and continue the cycle of poverty.

We must, ust take it seriously considering that today approcicmately 3.4 million children already, ALREADY have signs of a mental illness (ADHD). These children will, WILL grow up to be adults with a mental illness and if it is never treated, the brains gets worse, NOT better!!!

I can relate to your concern about the cost of living steadily rising and the income that we are receiving not growing at the same pace, I'm actually going through a similar situation. You're right, we can't look at this as a crisis or an opportunity. We have to look at this as a wake up call to do things like fixing the credit, diversifying the money that we have to spend and being better prepared for the upcoming years.

I think that pooling money with family is a great idea and not only for financial reasons. This builds strength with the people closes to you, and it also gives you the opportunity to branch out as a family full of strong (indivual) family members that are able to do the same thing with extended family and friends, but also widening your reach as you grow.

Congratulations on the baby and I am sure that you will come out of this situation on top, because I see the sharpness in words. Maybe we'll meet at a conference table in the near future, but let's both do our best to make sure the table is sturdy.

I think that lack of unity is the genesis of all our problems as a people. The crabs in a barrel statement speaks volumes, and it seems that our own people are afraid someone outshining them so they do things eradicate their glow. The problem is that my shine is no brighter than your and if we can stand close enough to each other, we can shine brighter. There is nothing wrong with healthy competition, but we have to get to a point where we are not competing for the crumbs on the table. Let's feast first, and then lets make each feast better than the previous one, but not at the expense of the previous host.

You have taught me over the years that I will get what I put out and even when it seems likes things are not working there is one person that will hear your message. I am glad that you enjoy the voice and vision that you see and hear. We will come together just keep moving forward and I will continue supporting you.

I have to admit that I was clueless about the mental state of Black American, but your voice has made me very aware of it. I am not in a position to help treat it, but I can do my part to make others aware of it existence with your guidance.

Hopefully that plan assists someone who is unaware of their condition and help them to recognize whats going on so that they can get the necessary treatment. Let's both do our part to help some of the 3.4 million children that have these signs so that we can help them to get better.

I am concerned about modern/traditional medicine preferred to holistic health prevention practiced. Thinking on the logic of blows my mind. I question the mathematical statements that I am writing in my day to day living. My question? Haven't written it yet...but let me write it. euroclydon (lettie).
