BLACK WOMEN WHO HATE BLACK WOMEN (2194 hits)

It's Amazing that we choose to hate so quickly and appreciate so slowly. While doing a photography shoot for a very popular publication there were over 40 women of color in the studio , upon walking in you could cut the silence with a knife until the photographers cameras clicked. After 30 minutes of starting the photo shoot Loud whispering and negative remarks were heard each time a different model stood up to take the stage and as the day went on the negativity got louder. Im sure Most women have experienced this at a casting or photo shoot.
I stopped shooting with another photographer and made a statement about how amazing it is that in the fashion market most black women are not even accepted for true fashion publications locally or globally but the saddest thing is when we don't even accept or encourage each other. I asked the audience " what is it about a woman's beauty that intimidates or irritates another woman who's really just as beautiful?"
I stated that Beauty is the character of the mind, spirit and soul, so when you have confidence from God residing within you his beauty can transcend the camera and your life. They applauded all around the room and 20 minutes later continued to whisper but it was much more peaceful. WHY DO WOMEN HATE?

Black women rich or poor have the worse self esteem issues and lash out negativity because its something within their own mind that gets triggered to react to another person getting attention for the moment. If theyare not a real lady and confident about their looks and have been told all their lives that they are ugly etc, then yeah sistas can be worse than white chicks when it comes to beauty DESPITE the strides made by certain black models and ones in various types of business, we tear down each other not out of concern or constructive critizism, but destructive jealousy. Just look at how we act on those stupid reality shows, it brings out the worst and whats stupid if all of those chicks were their for a photo shoot, then why talk nasty behidn her back or in her face like some stupid HS it crowd? That's not being a lady or mature, I ignore it because if it bothers them that I'm so fly, confident and free of the BS that's around me,then that's their issue not mine. PLUS, the fashion industry is going to scrutinize you as an individual anyway so you really dont need the added burden of your so called peers putting you through a crabs iin a barrel gauntlet. Forget dem stupid hoes, do YO thang.

Michael, I think it has to do more with insecurity that hate. Black women have been in a position of defense for so long, that we have to learn how to let those guards down and break the locks in order to get through the very doors that have held us back.

It is interesting to me that the question poses Black Woman Hate Black Women, rather thancompulsive, competative, and insecure women are jealous of others. When we look within our own culture we seem to suggest that our Hatin' is different than some one else's hatin'. I don't think jealousy, envy, and sabotage runs in colors. What I do think is that since I am a woman of color that I must take responsibility for teaching those I mentor that two women can cook in the same kitchen. I do believe we must teach our daughters that striving for excellence in mind, body, and spirit is not dependent upon how others react to our beauty. I realize that Michael has a point about the sisters were not intune with celebration of others as an integra part of celebrating their individual greatness. But, I am not sure that Black Women Hate Each Other more than any other ethnic group. I believe that is the lie we continue to foster. And, I do believe that beauty in body and mind supercedes plain flesh beauty. Umm, I wonder if the other models were there because they too were at the very least flesh beauties? Why do Women Hate? People hate what they do not understand. People hate when they do not have true love for themselves.

I don't know the anwser to that question, but I will say that lots of women of all colors behave like this. If I had to guess at the answer perhaps it has to do with the need to be competitive. Just a guess.

Confidence comes from within and any woman who lacks it will show it eventually. I'm a part time model and it's difficult being beautiful. Women should know that our inner beauty should surpass our outer beauty, that's what makes us a gem. I get a lot of negative vibes on a daily basis from women of all color, so it's a female thing. I admire any woman (not just a black woman) that takes care of herself and knows the difference between confidence and arrogance. Great topic. Women just know that we are all beautiful in our own ways and there is truth to the phrase " beauty is only skin deep "

I think what they really hate is something within themselves. Or perhaps it has to do with women outnumbering men and there is a lot of competition. I wish it were not this way. However I'm proud and glad to say I have never had a problem telling other women I think they are pretty or commenting on their sense of style.
