Are Your Words Encouraging? *the power of words* (3645 hits)

It’s all about Character

Our tongue can spring forth honey or the sting of bees. Many times we speak without thinking. We give no thought to the importance of what we say and how we say it. Some of us will go out of our way to offend others with harsh words of criticism and judgment. However, we need to be aware of the inevitable visit from Karma. What goes around will surely come back to either sting us; or caress us with honey.

When our tongue is busy with bitter criticism and harsh judgment we arouse resentment in others. Harsh words can cut like a knife into the spirit. Our tongue can either destroy a person or lift them up. When we understand the importance and power of our words, we can use them for good. Our words determine our course of events; so it would be prudent for us to always choose our words wisely and speak well of others.

If we are continually focused on and pointing out the faults of others, we begin to reflect that same image. Each of us has our own faults, our own issues. We are in no rightful position to judge others. We strengthen ourselves as we strengthen others with the kindness of encouraging words.

The power of words can be an incredible aid to helping us remain motivated and focused. They will have an exceptional effect on our subconscious mind. Words can be of real value to us, if we use them correctly. Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind.

Are Your Words Encouraging?

An encouraging word to someone who is down can encourage them to achieve their goal. A destructive word to someone who is down can have negative effects. Be careful of what you say and how you say it.

Hey Bren, what you just shared with us puts to test that saying, "sticks and stone may break my bones but words may never hurt me". Even the bible talks about how deadly the tongue is, that at one point we praise God and out of the same mouth we curse Him. My favorite saying is, " Let the words out of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Lord who is my strength and redeemer.

We are held accountable for the words that leave our mouth and once we have given our word we have to stand behind it. If we want peace, we have to speak peace; if we want growth, we have to speak on growth; and the same thing goes for the negative words and vibes that we sometimes give.

Thank you for sharing as always Bren, these are truly words to take heed to.

Greetings Tanshanika…

I concur, my sister. I do recall my mother sharing that quote with me and my siblings growing up. I have since learned to not allow the harsh words of others to detour me from my goals.

When you are secure in your spot, you will be able to allow those harsh words to glide off your back like water. However, it may not be that easy for some who lack confidence and are overly emotional. Same could be said for those with too much pride. The harsh words of others could be detrimental or even dangerous to those harboring those traits. Judgment belongs to the Creator. Therefore, we should always be conscious of what we say and how we say it when communicating with others.

I truly appreciate your voice on this topic and look forward to further networking with you.

Greetings SG…

Yes, we are definitely held accountable for the words that leave our mouth. I could not have said it any better my brother. Our words become our actions and we will subsequently reap the destiny of which we have sown.

Thank you dear for appreciating the share

You are so right; I love it. Gotta fuss a little though, because you used my pet peeve word, "incredible". I know your intent, but what you said is very credible, as is the power of words.
